Hengistbury Head Outdoor Centre
Hengistbury Head Outdoor Centre is on an exciting journey of transformation. As a community-led initiative, the centre is being sympathetically rejuvenated to become a sustainable, innovative, and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. Operated by volunteers and in partnership with professional organisations, the centre will offer inclusive experiences for all ages and abilities once it reopens.
A major milestone has just been reached thanks to the dedication of the team, a 99-year lease has been secured with BCP Council, and a substantial grant of approximately £669,000 has been awarded from the Government’s Community Ownership Fund. This funding will enable essential repairs and refurbishment, due to begin in Summer through Autumn 2025. However, to unlock the full potential of the grant, the project still needs to raise £155,000 in match funding from the local community. Every donation, big or small, brings the centre one step closer to reopening its doors.

The Macmillan Unit
The Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital is a Specialist Palliative Care Unit and Hospice serving patients across South East Dorset and South West Hampshire. It is operated in partnership between University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and the local charity Macmillan Caring Locally, which provides vital funding and support.
The charity funds a wide range of essential services including the Family Support Team, Hospice at Home, Community Specialist Nurses, and key medical staff making a profound difference every day.
